Srinagar: Mozif Ashraf Beigh, a resident of Srinagar’s Zakura neighbourhood, was detained by Bengaluru Police for reportedly using fabricated marriage promises to deceive a Bengaluru woman.
The woman claims she became involved with Beigh because he promised to wed her without having to follow any particular religion. They first met in 2018 while working together at an IT company in Bengaluru.
Beigh has been relocated to Bengaluru in order to answer to the accusations included in a FIR filed on September 14. In addition to Section 5 of the Karnataka Protection of Right to Information Act, these charges fall under Sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural offences), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (acts carried out by several people in furtherance of a common intention), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), and 417 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
