Jammu: In a notable public outreach effort, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha actively participated in the Block Diwas program at Bhalwal, emphasizing the transformative impact of Jan-Bhagidari (people’s participation) in bolstering governance and community empowerment.
Acknowledging the overwhelming response to Block Diwas, the Lt Governor commended the citizens for their active involvement, stating that the Jan-Bhagidari campaign is instrumental in creating awareness about responsibilities, ensuring accountability in administration, and empowering citizens.
Lt Governor Sinha urged all sections of society to initiate efforts toward making their respective panchayats cleaner, more livable, achieving 100% literacy rates, maintaining green spaces, and ensuring the full implementation of government schemes.
“The sense of commitment and duty among the citizens towards the society and their respective panchayats will improve quality of life and pave the way to prosperity,” highlighted the Lt Governor.
Speaking about the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and achieving 100% saturation of all schemes, Lt Governor Sinha expressed confidence that these initiatives would address developmental imbalances and significantly boost the local economy.
Reiterating the commitment of the UT Administration to equitable and inclusive development, Lt Governor Sinha emphasized that the poor and underprivileged have the first right to government resources. He highlighted efforts to promote regional languages, connect panchayats with roads, boost industries, enhance religious tourism, and tap into the potential of the Agriculture & Allied sector.
In addition to central government schemes, the Lt Governor pointed out that the J&K UT administration runs more than a dozen self-employment schemes, aiming to provide resources and training to youth for starting their businesses.
Addressing the issue of the drug supply chain, Lt Governor Sinha urged citizens to assist the Civil Administration and Police in intensifying the crackdown to make their Panchayat Nasha-Mukt (drug-free).
Responding to concerns raised by former PRI members, the Lt Governor assured them that their suggestions and genuine demands would be considered in the planning of the District Capex Budget.
During the Block Diwas program, Lt Governor Sinha inspected stalls from various departments, inquired about citizens’ grievances, and distributed sanction letters to beneficiaries under different government schemes. The event was attended by prominent officials, including Sh Bharat Bhushan, Chairman, District Development Council Jammu, Sh Anand Jain, ADGP, Jammu, Sh Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sh Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, along with former PRI members and a large number of people.
