Rafiabad: In a heart-wrenching incident in the Rafiabad area of Baramulla district on Thursday, a casual labourer from the Power Development Department (PDD) lost his life due to electrocution while carrying out repairs on a transmission line.

The deceased, identified as Muhammad Jammal Reshi hailing from Gund Chobutara Kralgund, was actively engaged as a casual laborer within the PDD. The unfortunate event unfolded when Reshi, diligently working on the transmission line, suffered a severe electric shock.

Efforts were promptly made to rush him to NTPHC Dangiwacha for medical intervention. Despite the swift response, the attending doctors declared him brought dead, marking a tragic end to the incident.

In response to this unfortunate fatality, the local police have taken cognizance of the matter and registered a case under the relevant sections of the law. The incident serves as a poignant reminder of the occupational hazards faced by those working in critical roles such as repairing and maintaining power infrastructure.

The Power Development Department expressed condolences over the loss of their team member, highlighting the inherent risks associated with their line of work.
