Guangdong: In the wake of continuous heavy rainfall in various parts of south China’s Guangdong Province, devastating consequences have emerged, with four individuals tragically losing their lives and 10 others reported missing, according to recent reports.
Zhaoqing City bore the brunt of the natural disaster, recording three fatalities, while Shaoguan City mourns the loss of one of its valiant rescuers.
Efforts to locate the missing individuals, hailing from Shaoguan and Qingyuan cities, are currently underway, with search and rescue operations in full swing.
The relentless downpour has wreaked havoc across multiple cities, including Shaoguan, Guangzhou, Heyuan, Zhaoqing, Qingyuan, Meizhou, and Huizhou. The aftermath has been marked by damaged infrastructure, blocked roads, and perilous landslides, further complicating rescue efforts and exacerbating the plight of affected communities.
Responding to the crisis, authorities in Guangdong have taken proactive measures, relocating approximately 110,000 residents to safer grounds, with an additional 25,800 individuals being urgently resettled to mitigate the risk posed by the inclement weather conditions.
As the region grapples with the aftermath of the deluge, concerted efforts continue to alleviate the suffering of those impacted and to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents in the affected areas.
