Baramulla: District Sheep Husbandry Officer (DSHO) Baramulla, Dr Showkat Ahmad Ahanger, has urged local farmers to cooperate with department staff during the ongoing Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination campaign. The vaccination drive is being carried out across the district with the aim of controlling the spread of FMD among livestock.
Dr Showkat Ahmad informed that dedicated teams have been formed to administer the free vaccination, and he emphasized that the vaccination process is completely free of charge for farmers. He appealed to the farming community to actively assist the department’s teams by providing accurate details about their sheep, ensuring that the vaccination process is properly documented and all livestock are covered.
The DSHO stressed the importance of this initiative in the district’s efforts to eradicate FMD, which poses a significant threat to livestock health and the livelihoods of farmers. He urged farmers to help the teams by providing relevant information so that the department can maintain an up-to-date record of vaccinated sheep.
“Cooperation from farmers is essential for the success of this vaccination campaign, and together, we can make a significant step toward eradicating Foot and Mouth Disease from the region,” Dr Showkat Ahmad said.
Farmers have been encouraged to contact the relevant authorities and provide the necessary information to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the vaccination programme.
