Srinagar: Several districts in the Kashmir region recorded sub-zero temperatures today with Anantnag registered the lowest at -3.5°C, followed closely by Shopian at -3.6°C and Pulwama at -3.2°C.
Other districts, including Pahalgam (-2.3°C), Bandipora (-2.4°C), Budgam (-2.0°C), and Larnoo (-2.9°C), also experienced freezing conditions.
Srinagar recorded -1.2°C, while popular tourist spots such as Gulmarg and Sonamarg reported -0.6°C and -1.3°C, respectively. Baramulla was the only district in the region to remain above freezing, with a minimum temperature of 0.1°C.
In the Jammu region, the temperatures were comparatively milder.
Jammu recorded 11.3°C, while Katra and Kathua each reported 10.4°C. Banihal recorded 2.0°C, and Batote reported 5.6°C. Other notable readings included Bhaderwah at 2.6°C, Kishtwar at 6.1°C, and Padder, the coldest in Jammu, at -4.9°C. Ramban and Reasi both recorded 8.9°C, followed by Samba at 7.6°C and Udhampur at 8.2°C. Poonch and Rajouri registered similar readings of 5.1°C.
In Ladakh, the cold conditions were prominent. Leh recorded -6.2°C, and Kargil reported -4.0°C. Drass, known for its freezing temperatures, was the coldest in the region, recording -7.0°C.
