Jammu: Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated “Project 13 13” today at the National Hospital Jammu, marking a significant step towards enhancing women’s healthcare in the region .
The new initiative, announced via the CM’s official X account, is described as a pioneering programme designed to deliver affordable, high-quality healthcare specifically for women. CM Abdullah praised the hospital’s commitment to accessible and inclusive medical services, emphasising that maternal and women’s health is a key priority for his administration.
While details are still emerging, “Project 13 13” is expected to include enhanced obstetric and gynaecological care, expanded diagnostics, and subsidised treatment options for women from across Jammu Division. The Chief Minister highlighted that such targeted healthcare schemes are essential to address longstanding gaps in female-oriented medical services.
Healthcare experts and local leaders welcomed the launch, noting that Jammu’s women often face higher barriers to quality medical care. Many community activists and health advocates said they hope the project will also improve areas like preventive screening, maternal wellness, and postnatal care.
The inauguration of Project 13 13 is part of a broader push by CM Abdullah’s government to transform public health infrastructure across the Union Territory. Observers see this move as aligning with national goals to ensure gender-sensitive healthcare becomes a norm, not an exception.
