Jammu: On January 9th, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha led a high-level meeting to assess the preparations for the upcoming 4th Khelo India Winter Games, scheduled to commence on February 2nd in Gulmarg. Sh Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary Youth Services and Sports, briefed the Lt Governor on the progress of preparatory tasks assigned to relevant departments.
The Lt Governor instructed the concerned departments to promptly complete all assigned tasks according to time-bound action plans, ensuring that all facilities meet international standards. Highlighting the success of previous Khelo India Winter Games editions, the Lt Governor emphasized that J&K UT has become a winter sports hub, and this year should be another significant occasion for athletes and winter sports enthusiasts nationwide. He urged collective efforts to showcase the region’s rich culture and warm hospitality.
The meeting also addressed the comprehensive strategy for promotional campaigns, the establishment of joint control rooms, deployment of Nodal officers, management of traffic, provision of parking spaces, lodging, transportation, continuous power and water supply, medical facilities, public utilities, and other amenities. The Lt Governor directed the concerned departments to coordinate effectively to ensure the smooth conduct of the games.
In attendance at the meeting, both in person and virtually, were Sh Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor; Sh Atal Dullo, Chief Secretary; Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor; along with senior officers from the Police and Civil administration.
