Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly witnessed chaos on Monday after members of the National Conference (NC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) exchanged religious slogans during the session.
According to reports, tensions escalated when NC legislators chanted “Naara-e-Takbeer, Allahu Akbar”, prompting BJP members to respond with “Jai Shri Ram”. The slogan-shouting from both sides led to a heated verbal exchange, severely disrupting the proceedings of the House.
The uproar created a charged atmosphere, with legislators from both parties accusing each other of using religion for political gain and violating the sanctity of the Assembly.
The Speaker had to intervene multiple times, calling for order and urging members to observe discipline and respect the dignity of the legislative institution.
Outside the Assembly, leaders from both NC and BJP stood by their respective actions, each blaming the other for instigating the incident.
