Srinagar: The Kashmir Trade Alliance (KTA) has voiced serious concern over the recent reports of harassment and attacks against Kashmiri students and businessmen in various parts of the country. The incidents have caused widespread unease among the Kashmiri community across India.
Aijaz Shahdhar, President of the KTA, stated, “Kashmir has always opposed violence and remains deeply committed to peace and harmony. As a community, we are equally, if not more, anguished by the loss of innocent lives. However, the alarming reports of threats and intimidation faced by Kashmiri students and residents elsewhere are unacceptable and must be condemned unequivocally.”
The KTA has appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take urgent and effective steps to ensure the protection of Kashmiri citizens residing outside Jammu and Kashmir. They urged for immediate action to end the climate of fear and prevent any further acts of hostility.
“The dignity and safety of every Kashmiri student, trader, and resident must be safeguarded,” Shahdhar emphasised. “We call for robust institutional support and strict punitive measures against those who incite fear or discrimination.”
The Kashmir Trade Alliance reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, coexistence and mutual respect among all communities in the country.
