DGP Nalin Prabhat visits Rajwar Forests in Handwara, boosts morale of SOG personnel

While addressing the officers and jawans, Shri Nalin Prabhat underlined the critical importance of modern jungle warfare training. He emphasised that operations in such environments demand exceptional physical stamina, keen situational awareness, and highly adaptive tactics.

Handwara: In a landmark move, Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Nalin Prabhat (IPS), made a significant visit to the remote Rajwar forests in Zachaldara, Handwara, becoming the first Police Chief to reach this challenging and far-flung area of North Kashmir.

The visit, focused on uplifting the morale of the police forces operating in these rugged terrains, served as a powerful show of solidarity and encouragement for the Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel stationed in the dense forests and hilly zones of Handwara.

During his tour, the DGP engaged in direct interactions with SOG personnel, gaining first-hand insights into the hardships and operational challenges they face while conducting anti-terror operations in the region’s inhospitable terrain.

While addressing the officers and jawans, Shri Nalin Prabhat underlined the critical importance of modern jungle warfare training. He emphasised that operations in such environments demand exceptional physical stamina, keen situational awareness, and highly adaptive tactics.

“In forested terrains, the success of long-duration operations hinges on a deep understanding of the environment, strong endurance, and tactical flexibility,” the DGP said, adding that these elements are vital in the ongoing efforts to rid Jammu and Kashmir of terrorism.

He further urged the SOG teams to continuously refine their knowledge of local topography, calling it a strategic advantage in forest warfare. “Familiarity with the terrain acts as a force multiplier and plays a crucial role in denying terrorists any chance to regroup or establish bases in such regions,” he remarked.

The visit was warmly welcomed by the SOG personnel, who expressed gratitude for the DGP’s proactive leadership and his commitment to engaging with forces on the frontlines. The interaction not only lifted the spirits of the troops but also reaffirmed the leadership’s dedication to strengthening ground-level operations in the fight against militancy.
