Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor is all set to play Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious mythological trilogy Ramayana, and reports have now revealed the staggering amount he’s being paid for the role. According to sources, the Bollywood star is charging a massive Rs 75 crore for portraying the iconic character.
The film, which is currently in production, also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita and Kannada superstar Yash as Ravana. The scale of the project is grand, with VFX work being handled by Oscar-winning company DNEG, promising a visual spectacle for audiences.
The first part of Ramayana is expected to focus on the story of Lord Ram, Sita, and Hanuman, with later instalments exploring other chapters of the epic. Ranbir has reportedly committed over 200 days to the film and has undergone intense physical training and preparation to embody the character of Lord Ram with authenticity.
Earlier, reports suggested that Ranbir has given up alcohol and non-vegetarian food to stay true to the role and portray the mythological figure with sincerity and respect.
Directed by Dangal and Chhichhore fame Nitesh Tiwari, the film is being made on a grand scale and is expected to be one of the most expensive Indian film projects to date. The makers are aiming for a pan-India release in multiple languages.
Though the official release date has not yet been announced, Ramayana is already among the most talked-about upcoming films in Bollywood.
