Yawar Mir slams NC, says ‘darkness of lies won then, but truth will win now’

He also criticised NC for promoting dynastic politics, urging the youth to rise and strengthen Apni Party as a viable alternative. “The youth must lead the way to change. We need to build a political platform based on merit and performance, not inheritance,” he said.

Pulwama: Apni Party youth president and former MLA Yawar Ahmad Mir on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the National Conference (NC), accusing the party of misleading the people of Jammu and Kashmir with false promises during previous Assembly elections.

Addressing a workers’ convention in Pulwama, Mir claimed that while Apni Party stood for truth and transparency, the NC’s “web of lies” managed to win votes in the last election. “The competition was tough. Lies defeated our truth, darkness won over light. But today, even many NC supporters admit Altaf Bukhari was right,” he said.

He further cited the recent remarks of NC’s own parliamentarian Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, who, according to Mir, has acknowledged that the party misled the public. “If someone is with NC for the sake of Kashmir’s identity, they are standing on the wrong side. Only Apni Party can restore the identity and dignity of Jammu and Kashmir,” he asserted.

Reaffirming his party’s commitment to honest politics, Mir said, “We’ve already suffered due to past lies—especially those of NC. Our mission is to tell people the truth and build trust, not manipulate emotions.”

He also criticised NC for promoting dynastic politics, urging the youth to rise and strengthen Apni Party as a viable alternative. “The youth must lead the way to change. We need to build a political platform based on merit and performance, not inheritance,” he said.

Calling on educated citizens to raise awareness, Mir appealed to them to expose NC’s “betrayals” and hold the party accountable for failing to deliver on its election promises. “Let them first fulfil their own manifesto,” he added.

The convention was part of Apni Party’s ongoing outreach to consolidate its position ahead of potential future elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
